Zakynthos beach – Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach)

If you’re looking for the beach on Google – zakynthos beach is number one on google search, at the time of writing this post, please watch it to know why.
Read the guide and you’ll know why they call it Shipwreck Beach. It’s one of the most popular beaches in the world.

Zakynthos beach. One of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever seen is Zakynthos or Shipwreck Beach (also known as Navagio). It’s the prettiest, and I have to agree. Although I’ve been to a lot of beaches in much more exotic places (such as Brazil, Thailand and Italy), I haven’t yet seen one that has me as enchanted as Navagio’s.

However, even with perfection, there is a defect to be found. As long as you don’t mind looking at it from above, this beach is unquestionably one of the most beautiful on earth. When seen from the water, it loses some of its allure. For this reason, you will not see the view from above as you would on postcards or flyers provided by tour companies promoting trips to the beach. The rocky cliff is likewise too steep and rugged to be climbed from the shore. So what’s the answer if you’d want to see the famed vista from the summit?

Zakynthos beach -Finding Shipwreck Beach (Navagio)

There is just ONE route to access to Shipwreck Beach, where you may walk on the rocks (the beach isn’t sandy) and swim in the crystal-clear seas.

The most well-known beach in Greece may be reached by boat through a number of tour operators (for an affordable fee).

You’ll also go to the Blue Caves and Xygia Sulfur Beach, which are both off Zakynthos’ shore. Navagio is unquestionably the best of them all, although all are amazing in their own right.

How to access to the observation platform and the cliff above Shipwreck Beach

After you’ve seen the beach up close, you have to see it from above!

You’ll be blown away by how stunning it looks from this vantage point. Because of this, the Navagio beach in Zakynthos is not easily accessible (which has the same name).

You’d think, though, that finding a tour or a public bus to take you there would be simple; after all, it is Greece’s most renowned site! You’re completely incorrect. No buses go to Naviagio.

The greatest option is to take a road trip in a rental automobile. Unless you drive, difficulties will arise. From the island’s capital, take a public bus to Anafonitria, where you may then hike for over 5 kilometers (3 miles) to the observation point.

The buses, on the other hand, are very unreliable and infrequent. Taking a cab is an option as well; it will be expensive if you go alone, but if you can split the cost among four people, it should be manageable. It will cost you 100 EUR to hire a cab from Zakynthos town to your hotel and return, plus 1 hour of free time to explore and enjoy the region.

You may go on a tour called Back to the Roots, which costs very little (30 EUR). Rather from visiting the beach, you will see the island and nearby towns, churches, and other points of interest on this trip. In addition, there is a viewing platform in there.

Although the view from the cliff of Navagio is spectacular, I would not suggest this excursion only for the sake of seeing it. Even if the tour of Zakynthos’ history was excellent, you won’t be on the observation platform for more than ten minutes.

how did it arrive to Navagio Beach?

You must be perplexed as to how this ship ended up on the world’s most beautiful beach. There are a few of tales to be told. What if I told you that when the ship crashed, the sand grew up around it, creating the surreal blue color of the water? According to some accounts, the Greek government sailed the ship there solely to increase tourism.

The official account, on the other hand, claims that the ship was pursued by Greek authorities in the 1980s because it was suspected of bringing in illegal substances into Zakynthos, including alcohol and cigarettes. The skipper lost control of the ship during the storm, and it sank in the nook. It’s said that villagers had already found the wreck before government officials arrived, and as a result, things became better on the island before the authorities arrived. Free booze and smokes are available to anyone!

Tourists seem to enjoy climbing the collapsing ruins and leaving their mark on the walls with obscene graffiti.

The beach is breathtaking and, as previously said, is best appreciated from a distance. If you like comparable beaches, but want to avoid the crowds, go to Albania, which is only over the border. Most importantly, you may relax in peace and enjoy the stunning natural surroundings for as much time as you want among friendly locals and crystal-clear water.
